We are not talking here about experiences conjured up in the imagination by means of words and fictitious atmospheres; rather, it is a question of directly observing, experiencing first-hand, perhaps under heavy sea conditions, or when for others the knots might be too few for planing on the waves.
Launched in 2005, as the first product of the collaboration with the Botin&Carkeek design team, the Grand Soleil has translated the intentions which inspired it into concrete results, by immediately coming to dominate the most important IRC and IMS circuits, with victories in the Italian, European, Spanish IMS Championships and podium placements in SPI OUEST e COWES WEEK in IRC. When cruising, the Grand Soleil fulfils the second part of its promise, proving that performance and speed can be attained without sacrificing the comfort and liveability of a yacht.
The reduced wetted surface area, wedge shape of the bow, maximum beam carried aft, and careful distribution of the volumes make the Grand Soleil particularly easy to control, even with a short crew, thereby assuring sailing enjoyment, speed and stability at the same time.
Perfectly in line with the Cantiere del Pardo tradition, the yacht provides with understated elegance all the comforts that an exacting owner who pays attention to the quality of details, can expect to find in a top-level cruiser. Below deck, the design by Patrick Roséo optimises the interior layout to create rational and ergonomic spaces. At the heart of life on board is the dinette, with wood panelling and curved lines that welcome guests into a warm, inviting setting; the chart table is functional and convenient, while to port, the practical galley along the bulwark leaves open an ample access corridor to the owner’s cabin.
The cabins are spacious, light and airy. The attention to detail in Grand Soleil yachts makes life on board even more enjoyable, as a result of more than thirty years experience in the boat-building business.
The hull of the Grand Soleil 43 Open Transom, designed by Botin, is the result of the latest research in the field of fluid dynamics. The choice of the T-shaped bulb keel comes directly from experience in the America’s Cup, and aims to guarantee maximum performance and safety thanks to greater righting moment and a reduced wet surface.

Cantiere del Pardo’s priorities are resoundingly clear: safety and structural soundness. This choice is reflected in the use of traditional boatbuilding techniques that have stood the test of time and have been finely honed, down to the smallest details.
The ultimate in strength and durability: stratified unidirectional fibreglass offers a tensile strength of up to 25 kg/mm2. To ensure the durability and waterproofing of the outer surfaces, NPG isophtalic GELCOAT NEOGEL and vinylester resin are applied to the first layers of the hull. The steel used is AISI 316 on the outside, and AISI 304 on the inside, welded using tungsten electrodes according to the “ARCOTIG” process.
In 7-layer marine plywood, bonded to the hull with a 60-mm-wide lamination applied to the edges of the bulkheads after abrading, in order to achieve maximum adhesion with the fibreglass.
Consisting of a stainless steel bar with a diameter of 60 mm; the blade structure is made up of 300 mm stainless steel plates. The shaft swivels on two supports, using self-aligning ball or roller- bearings to keep friction to a minimum.
In stainless steel, fastened to the hull using 27 mm thick stainless steel rods with ball joint, which in turn are secured to the galvanised steel internal structure.

For ultimate solidity and uniform distribution of stress from the keel, mast and shrouds.
The fruit of cutting-edge hydrodynamic research, the keel is bolted onto the metal internal structure so as to distribute the keel load over the broad, and sturdy fibreglass and galvanised steel surface of the entire hull.
